The disruption emerged on Friday for American Airlines, and particularly at its largest hub, with continued weather risks leading to further delays and cancellations on Saturday and Sunday. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and AccuWeather warned of more intense weather over the weekend, with thunderstorms, high winds, flash flooding, and lightning strikes as the primary concerns. American Airlines' biggest hub, DFW, recommended that travelers check with their airlines about flight status and the FAA regarding any possible disruption. However, travelers should also be prepared to handle their own situation if their flight is severely delayed or canceled close to or on the day, as federal law addresses air travel disruption caused by weather.
